A Designerly Review of "2001: A Space Odyssey" - 2016

In this lecture, we watched the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick with the design student. We discussed the ideas and concepts in the movie from a design perspective. The setting and events of the story, the objects and production and the technologies as imagined by Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick are great source of inspiration and discussion for design students.

I believe movies are a great playground for designers to realise their wildest dreams and materialise their design concepts that might not yet be suitable for real world production. It is one of my long-term goals to write a book on reviewing movies from a designer's point of view.
